U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has signed a cooperative research and development agreement (CRADA) with SRI International to lead a consortium focused on quantum science and engineering. SRI International is a nonprofit, independent R&D center headquartered in Menlo Park, California.
Zyvex Labs President John Randall attended the 2nd organizational meeting of this new organization and is on the Enabling Technology Sub-committee of that organization. Zyvex Labs does not speak for this new organization and what follows is the opinion of John Randall.
The intent of the organization is broadly to insure that the US has the needed workforce, technology, infrastructure, and funding to compete effectively in the increasingly global quantum technology race. Zyvex Labs believes that this is an important and worthwhile effort and intends to be active in this consortium. John Randall is part of the Technical Advisory Committee on Enabling Technologies and will participate in an upcoming meeting in January at NIST in Boulder, Colorado.
