Ian, Ashley, Patrice, and John send you warm greetings after surviving another eventful year. We hope the holidays are happy for you and yours, and that YOUR Christmas Tree doesn't fall down.
Restoring the Historic Randall Residence
Patrice in her role as part time general contractor, has continued in her efforts to overcome entropy and the efforts of the rest of the family. She had the house painted (ignoring Johns suggestion that purple is a really swell color) in its historically correct off-white. The back porch was significantly enlarged, flower beds added, and a state-of-the-art turtle pit (see pet report) installed. The back yard is also adorned with new wooden embattlements and pendulum motion child recreational area. In the interior, Patrice has completed what is believed to be the largest painting ever completed by a Randall. John's contention that he painted a bigger picture for Patrice over ten years ago (about what life would be like with him) has been discounted by the judges on the basis that it was not a true picture. Patrice's artwork is a jungle landscape including many varieties of fauna and some tasteful flora and occupies one of the walls in Ian's room.
The Ashley Chronicles
Ashley has just turned 8 years old. She is attending 2nd Grade at Mendenhall in the Plano School District, where she made the 'A' Honor Roll. She and John have joined the Pueblo Indian Princess Tribe where they are known as Morning Glory and Midnight Sun. Ashley is also taking ballet and recently starred as a rambunctious reindeer at a recital. She and John are still going to Judo once a week.
The Ian Update
Ian is now 3. He seems to have delayed his terrible two tantrums for his third year. His best sentences involve polite requests: "Please Mommy may I have some ice cream?" His most frequent sentences tend to involve commands: "No daddy, You do it!". He still flirts outrageously with attractive females. His Grandfather Bill demonstrated the manly art of lawn irrigation while at the lake house.
The Patrice Profile
Patrice has managed to stay a "tin grin" but hopes to lose the braces in early 1993. She has been exceptionally busy as a Library volunteer at Mendenhall, a volunteer social worker for some neighborhood matrimonial disturbances, a general contractor and residence artist (see home report), and has conducted several exploratory vocational experiments. Some wonderful outfits for Ashley and Ian were by-products of one of these experiments.
John Stuff
Texas Instruments has managed to keep John fairly busy. In addition to his various laboratory duties, he has been sent to Washington, Ohio, Florida, San Francisco, and Vienna, Austria. John is continuing in his attempts to butcher the Japanese language with ever increasing sophistication. Just for fun John is a Junior Achievement Project Business Consultant where once a week he goes into a classroom full of junior high students and confuses them about economics. John's lack of fine motor skills was recently highlighted in an article ( including his picture on the front page) in the TI newspaper.
Pet Report
Yes true believers, our faithful feline Isis is still with us. When the rest of the Randall family goes traveling without her, she has expressed her displeasure by regurgitating large quantities of cat consumables on the dining room carpet. The exciting news is that the noted herpetologist Richard Fojtasek donated to Ashley a fine example of the species tri-digitus cardboardrundum tortilini (three-toed box turtle). Surprisingly its name is not Raphael. Ashley has dubbed the new addition "Snapper". Prior to going into hibernation a few months ago, Snapper enjoyed consuming earthworms and June bugs. One who has not observed the zeal with which a hungry box turtle stalks, attacks, and devours its prey would be truly amazed.
Relativity Report
The Stepchinski Story: Anita and Eddie (Patrice's Parents) are still happy in Houston. Eddie spends time working in his woodshop and exercising on his Nordic Track (a fiendish instrument that once jumped out and knocked John down when he wandered by). Brother Patrick quit Exxon (they made him clean out the Tiger's cage once too often) and has a new job. He and his bride Erica are still living in Baytown. Brother Nigel and wife Rhonda continue in their careers as Houston Police officers. They have a two year old cutie named Caitlin and a brand new fire engine red zoom mobile.
The Randall Record: Vee and Bill (John's Mommy and Pop) are doing fine, Vee has slimmed down nicely and Bill took a small timeout from retirement to get yet another gas processing plant on line. Sister Cindy has parted ways with Bob. Cindy and her helpers Shelly and Kelsie are busy running two Gymnastics Gyms. Brother Mike has a new job. His wife Vicki is running a chic clothing store. Their midgets Kalli and Cody are growing cuter by the day.
