Hey! Get Outta Here!
Hockey
I just want to say one thing about this. HOCKEY RULES! I love it. I figured that out when I got a Hockey stick in my hands at Summer Camp with a bunch of kids and my Belgium 6th grade teacher. (I got to go to see him bright and early on the first morning of Summer. Great huh?) When we started to play, something clicked, and all of a sudden I was slamming people up against walls and stealing the puck from high schoolers that volunteered to help with the camp. I loved it even more when I smacked the Goalie on the other team with my Hockey stick inbetween the eyes. (If you're looking at this from Dallas, Texas, ask Cecilia Shockley.) After Summer, I wanted to get on a team, so I joined the Varsity Team with a bunch of High Schoolers, and earned a Varsity Letter. Right before Christmas break, on the last day, there were Basket Ball and Hockey games going on. Well, of course I grabbed a Hockey Stick, and started to play with some of my friends, and 8th and 9th graders. (I did this in a skirt, and high, high-heeled boots.)
6th grade
In 6th grade last year, I've met up with some socially-challenged girls. When we were getting ready to move here, my class here started to send me email. One of the people to email me was someone (I can't say because of my Dad). She was from Texas. She thought that because I was from Texas that I was cool. When I got to Belgium, she let me hang out with her for a while, and then decided I was gum on her shoe and started to make fun of me behind my back. But she's back in Texas now. Some of the better things about 6th grade was the Ski Trip. I got to go with some of my friends from school to Leysin, Switzerland, and learn how to ski. It was really a lot of fun. The Swiss Alps are beautiful.
7th Grade
So far 7th grade has been ok. We've gone on field trips to Antwerp, Belgium and Fort Brendonk in Belgium. Antwerp is the Diamond capitol of the world, and also the home of many famous artists. Fort brendonk is the place where Jews were held by the Nazis in World War 2. It was horrible to visit that place. Jews were held in damp and dark rooms with 3 layered bunk beds, and a sac to sleep on. Sometimes they were tortured because the Nazis thought that they didn't like the ways they were being treated.
There have been 5 dances here so far, and each have been really fun. There's this really large jock guy named (Ican't say again), and he's such a jerk. He treats this one girl named (wouldn't you like to know) like she's a queen. He carries her books to her homeroom seat, and makes sure they're in perfect order and straight.
Favorite Places In Europe
My favorite places here so far are Switzerland, London, Paris, and Venice, Italy. Switzerland is really fun because when you wake up in the morning, you look outside and see mountains everywhere . Skiing is the best part though, and I've gotten pretty good. Although when Ian first started skiing on a bunny slope, he just flew out of control down the hill, and you could tell when he landed because you could see snow fly up like someone huge had just jumped into a pool. London is great because everyone spoke English, and there were tons of American stores to shop in. It was also great for its theaters. We went into one of them and saw Grease live on stage. It was really fun. Venice, Italy was awesome because there was water canals and Gondolas everywhere. They also have lots of beautiful glass there to buy.
Just Here
In Overijse here, its pretty nice. Just down the street is a Mc. Donalds, Pizza Hut, Toy Store, Bank, Grocery Store, Hair Dresser, and tons of great restaurants. At school, you enter it by going up a driveway lined with trees, and it opens up into a large parking lot with a white Chateau behind it. The grades go from Nursery to Seinor. As you enter the parking lot, the Nursery through 2nd grade is on your left (The ECC) with the Elementary School, 3rd through 6th to the right of it. As you pass the Chateau, the High School, 10th through 12th is up ahead. passed that are fields and a track. Beside the track is the Middle School, 7th through 9th. I get to get off the bus in the morning at the Chateau and walk about half a mile to the middle School.
