Ashley Enjoys a Short Vacation in Florida.

Ashley goes solo: After making a serious effort to make her marriage work, Ashley decided that her life with Luis was no longer a win-win situation and the two agreed to an amicable divorce. Patrice and John came to Austin to help Ashley move into another apartment. Her cat Cinto got tired of a bunch of rude people running in and out of her apartment and made them all go away (see photo). Ashley, not satisfied with one major change in her life, left the good offices of the Governor of the Great State of Texas and essentially went into business for herself representing a number of fine spirits companies including Tequila REVOLUCION, ??? Gin, Atlantico Rum, and Baijiu (Chinese Liquor). Ashley is busy driving around Austin and San Antonio going into Bars, Restaurants, and Liquor stores trying to get them to carry one or more of these brands.

Ian Will Work You Out! After working for a 24 Hour Fitness gym in Keller for several months, Ian applied for and was hired by Equinox, a very high end gym in the high end of Dallas neighborhoods, Highland Park. When we say high end gym, this is where Troy Aikman works out. Ian has progressed quickly up the tier system and has just become a Tier 3 trainer and has many clients including a local TV news anchorman. Ian was still living in Denton when he got the job and so to be closer to work, he moved back in with John and Patrice. Guess who helped him move. After several months, Ian and two long time friends, one of whom, Chris Manthey, he has known since they were midgets, rented a house in Dallas which Patrice actually approves of. Ian was also a super hero at the Tech Titans Awards Gala. See Photo at left and the background photo.

Patrice Stays Busy: Between ShaChelle Devlin Manning (the whirlwind that Patrice works for), warding off the repeated atrocities rained down upon our humble abode, dealing with Ian while he was living here (the boy goes through LOTS of laundry), frequent calls from Ashley about . . . (John has no idea what they talk about), and trying to keep John out of trouble keeps Patrice on her toes. She did manage to generate some excitement by slicing through her forearm with a broken blender. On one of the few days that John fails to turn on his cell phone, Patrice was cleaning an old glass blender, somehow managed to drop it, and cut her arm, to which she thought in the following sequence: 1) Oh, I cut myself. 2) UM, I am bleeding pretty good. Damn! I might not be able to meet with the guy that is going to repair the roof! 3) I think that I might need more than a band aid. 4) I better call John. 5) Wait, I am really bleeding, to hell with John, I am calling 911! 5) I am feeling woozy, I better sit outside and wait for the ambulance. During the latter part of this sequence, Patrice was running around the house talking to 911 and leaving a trail of blood that looked like someone had been shot. As it turned out, she cut her arm about as deep as possible without doing major damage. The nice paramedics got her to the hospital and she got all stitched up. During the ride to the hospital and in the emergency room repeated calls to John went unanswered (remember, John left his phone off) which got Patrice even more sympathy.

John stays busy Zyvex Labs has kept John busy. A plot to rule the world and a plan to heal the blind needs a lot of maintenance and apparently a lot of travel. Zyvex Labs has a new program to work on quantum computing and has the opportunity to do a lot of new and exciting things that involve putting atoms where you want them. In Oct of 2013, John explained this to the Philosophical Society of Washington. The work to heal the blind with the Israeli company Nanoretina is occupying John more since he became Executive Vice President of that company. John has been running Micrograph Contests at two of his favorite conferneces for many years now and in 2013 got a chance to Honor the top Artist in the field, Frans Holthuysen, in a ceremony in London. You should really look at this link and scroll down to see the fantastic images. John has continued to work with Actor/CEO/Stock broker/Investment Banker/JR-Shooter(Bum)/Artist Kevin Page. John continues to hone his skills for irritating friends and relatives with an alto saxophone.

Pet Report: Our Belgian Tervuren fur factory, Wolfgang, continues to keep John in shape by running him several times a week. Wolfy also helps keep Patrice in shape by shedding enough fur to demand a good aerobic vacuum cleaning of our downstairs several times a week. He also likes to take long walks with Patrice and sings along when John plays the saxophone. Wolfy has his own Facebook page.

The Relativity Report: It has been an eventful year for Randall relatives. John's Mom Vee sold her house and moved in with John's sister Cindy, her husband Skip, and her daughter Kelsie who made Vee a great grandmother by having a daughter Rilynn. So in one house in Houston, there are four generations. A short time later, Cindy's other daughter, Shelley had a baby boy David. She and husband Matt live nearby in Houston. With Vee at Cindy's house, John's brother Mike got to move in with his wife Margaret. Margaret retired from the University of Houston and started teaching at Saint Thomas University (where Mike and Patrice attended many moons ago). Mike got a great job and a new hip. Mike's daughter Kalli competed in the Miss United States pageant. Mike's son Cody got married to Kelsie (not Cindy's daughter, another Kelsie) and joined the army. Patrice's two brothers Patrick and Nigel and their families also live in the Houston area. Patrick and wife Erica live near NASA. Their daughter Leanne is in College at Trinity in San Antonio and son Alan is a senior in High School shopping for an institution of hier learning. The big News for Nigel and Rhonda is that they sold their house of many years and moved into a house on the west side of Houstone. Son Kyle is now a freshman in Aggieland. Caitlin has graduated from A&M has moved back to Houston and is plotting her dominion over the world.
