John Randall attended the second meeting of the Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C) that was held at the NIST facility in Boulder Colorado which was held October 29-30, 2018. The consortium is being developed by NIST and facilitated by SRI. The explicit intention of the QED-C appears to be to accelerate the Quantum Industry in the US. A good mixture of small, medium, and large companies attended and the organization is intending to expand. We like the focus areas that were discussed which include workforce, standards, and enabling technologies. In our opinion, quantum technologies including quantum computing, quantum communication and quantum materials will have huge scientific, technological and economic impacts. Zyvex Labs believes that this is a worthwhile effort that will have positive effects and intends to participate.
